Dave became a full-time lecturer in 2000 and had one main goal – to change people’s perception of Biomechanics and to illustrate its application in the ‘real world’. This ‘quest’ has resulted in open-minded students, new ideas on teaching and innovative product development. One such development is The FitFlop where Dave and his colleague Darren James developed the patent-pending Microwobbleboard™ technology that makes this product activate certain muscles to a greater extent than ‘normal’ footwear.

Dave has another great passion and that is Taekwondo, particularly Sport Taekwondo. He was the GB World University coach 2007 (Thailand), 2008 and 2009 (Serbia) and he is continually delving into his scientific knowledge to try and improve performance in this sport.

As he always says … “It’s all mechanics”.
