Mary Lawlor wins Special Recognition Award Sponsored by FitFlop!

FitFlop were delighted to be involved in this years Tatler Women

of the Year Awards on Saturday night last. They were hosted by

Harmonias Norah Casey and Dragons Den Gavin Duffy at the Four

It was a most glamorous evening!

A most deserving Mary Lawlor was presented with the Special

Recognition Award by Niamh Crowley from FitFlop.

During more than 25 years working for Amnesty International’s Irish

Section as Chair and then Director, Mary Lawlor was constantly

inspired by the work of human rights defenders – people who worked,

non-violently, for the rights of others at great personal risk. In 2001 she

set up Front Line, the International Foundation for the Protection of Human

Rights Defenders – Front Line concentrates all its activities on the security

and protection of Human Rights Defenders. Since then Front Line has

established itself as a respected and trusted organisation providing

round the clock practical support and delivering fast, flexible and

effective action on behalf of human rights defenders at risk.

Mary Lawlor has a BA in Psychology and Philosophy and post

post graduate diplomas in Montessori Teaching and Personnel Management.

The new Spring Summer collection of FitFLop was very well received by Irelands media recently with many well know faces coming along. Some included Andrea Hayes, Sybil Mulcahy and Sinead Desmond from TV3. Maura Derrane and Laura Bermingham also popped in. The founder and creator of FitFlop Marcia Kilgore was also there on the day. Paddy Cunningham from TV’s The Biggest Loser came by to try out the Men’s FitFlop and he is looking great after shedding nearly 7 stone in weight! My FitFlop sandals fit very loosely – is that ok or have I picked the wrong size?

FitFlop footwear has been engineered to fit a standard European width fitting. In a few instances – mostly in the US- women who have a narrower fit have found the upper webbing a bit loose in their normal size and have fit one size down more comfortably. (Because the footbed has a generous length, there is no issue of length when width is reduced.) We are in the midst of engineering next season’s FitFlop fit, and will attempt to overcome this issue so that the fit is more universal across all continents.
